Born in Ill. in 1828 and he came to California in 1851 and to Sacramento in 1852.Tthen went to Newcastle (near auburn) where he ran a whipsaw. In 1853 he returned to Sacramento and married in 1856 married Mary B. Strong a native of Ill. He was county supervisor from 1871-1874.
