THE GREEN'S AND THE SIM'S
9 GENREATIONS FOUND
I dream of what life was like for them OVER 100 years ago.
The Green Family traveled from Bretzenheim,
Prussia to the United States and came to California via the
Cape Horn. The ship they traveled on was the TRITON in 1859.
Joesph Edward Green, born 1815 and nephew Peter Benard Green
born 1844 settled in Courtland, California as fruit growers and
raised their families. Joseph married Teresa Cook and Peter
married Cynthia Laura Sims. Peter B. Green was also a miner, and
founded Inyo County, California. Today many still live in
California.
Austin Sims moved his wife Mary Ann and their 11 children
to the west in 1869 while others scattered throughout the U.S.
One of their son's (John Fletcher Sims) was killed by Apache
Indians in Arizona. William A. Sims, Austin and MaryAnn's 10th
son, developed the Sim's and Dalton peach and their daughter,
Nellie, founded the Tuesday club in Sacramento. She was also a
writer.
Austin's first born son, James Valentine Sims had 9 children.
James V. Sims founded Courtland, CA, naming it after his son,
Courtland.
